Birthday Bear

Welcome to the weekend, everyone! It's Taylor here, and today I'm showing off a card I made recently as my Monday Design Tip over at the Sweet 'n Sassy Connection.  This tip was all about using an image differently than intended.

I took the sweet Rhubarb Santa digi image and colored him up like a regular teddy bear.  Instead of a Santa cap, I pictured it more like one of those darling little nightcaps children wear.  I added a sentiment from the Happy Birthdays clear set.  I based my sketch off of one from the Sweet Stop, and presto! A birthday bear!

I can't decide which of the new Rhubarbs is my favorite. Have you?  I think I'm just going to say all of them :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Rhubarb Santa (digi), Happy Birthday Sentiments (clear)
Card Stock: SU Sage Shadow, Pretty in Pink; Neenah White
Patterned Paper: Basic Grey Olivia
Ink: SU Sage Shadow
Coloring Medium: Copics (C00, C1, C2, C3, C5, C7, C9, RV10, RV11, RV13)
Accessories: ribbon

A Flower a Day

Happy Friday!! I am so sad to say that today is going to be my last post as a Sweet 'n Sassy Design Diva.  I had to make the hard decision to cut back a little until school gets back into full swing...summer is hard with the little ones as many of you may know.   I am looking forward to early bedtimes and more crafting time but I cherish the time I spend with them because they grow up so fast.  I have loved every minute of being on this wonderful team of ladies, Korin is truly an angel and I am so thankful to her.  The good news is I will still be able to share my SNS creations at The Sweet Stop and The Sweet 'n Sassy Connection.
I have been dying to use this cute digi stamp called Peek-a-boo Sophie, I paired it with the Flower Sentiments Digi .  I am a huge fan of Anne Geddes and those cute flower babies and this reminds me of them.
As always I used my Copics to color her and I used two of my new favorite things in my stash...Basic Grey Sweet Threads paper and MFT Die-namics Upsy Daisy to make the flowers (love these die cuts!!).  I hope my card brightened your day a little and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Quick and Easy Polka Dots

Today is my grandma's 87th birthday and I don't even have a card made for her yet- ugh! Anyway, I was checking through some of my cards looking for some ideas to make a pretty but fast card and this was the one that stood out to me. The theme of this card is love but you can easily adapt it for many occasions.

First, I started out by picking some cool polka dot paper from Echo Park's Dots N Stripes collection. Then I used 2 of the stamps from the Seeing Spots set and stamped right in the middle of the dots alternating the image with the sentiment. So, for grandma's card I am going to use the "happy birthday" sentiment and pair it with the flower circle.

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day!

Beary Happy Day

Hey...have you heard that there's a new digi bear roaming about Sweet 'n Sassy? It's Rhubarb and he's the cutest little bear around!! Today we're announcing and releasing a brand new image, Rhubarb's Picks Apples.

I've paired my Rhubarb image, which was colored with Copic markers, with this apple-inspired paper from October Afternoon and ribbon from SU! I cut out around the image in a rectangle shape but ended up cutting around the individual tree branches and one bear ear. I liked the look of the printed paper peeking out through the branches.

Enjoy today's card and be sure to stop by the Sweet 'n Sassy web site to download this beary sweet image and to check out all of the other Rhubarb images!

Faux Tile

Hello and welcome to the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog!  This is Cathy again with my last project as guest designer for the month of July...I just can't believe how quickly the month has come to an end.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here this month and hope you have gained some inspiration from the projects I have shared.  My card today uses the stamp set, Helping Hands.  I just love coloring this sweet image with my Copic Markers.

Sometimes before coloring an image I like to do a google search to get ideas for colors.  I found a rusty, old faucet image and took my inspiration from that.  These colors worked well with the Echo Park DP from the "A Walk in the Park" paper pad which can be found at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store.  After coloring my image, I held my breath as I cut it apart into one inch squares.  The pieces were put on a piece of wax paper and were covered with Glossy Accents.  After the pieces were dry, they were put back together on a piece of Dark Chocolate card stock with spaces between each piece to resemble grout, thus giving the image a tile look.  The back of each piece was covered in Scor-Tape to prevent the corners from curling up.   All the panels were stitched together and a flower made from a blossom building die was added.

You can see the gloss a little better on this close up of the tiled section.  This is the first time I've tried this technique and like the results...hope you do, too!  Why not give it a try using any glossy medium you may have on hand?  Thanks for visiting with us today.  Stop back every day to see other projects created by the fabulous Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps design team!

Hugs,
Cathymac

Good Books and Good Friends

Hello!  It's Bridget here to share a card with you using the Sweet and Sassy Stamps set Reading Bethany.  This sweet bunny is so fun to color and the sentiment is a beautiful quote celebrating friendship.  The sky is sponged using a cloud cut with a Papertrey Ink cloud die and Versamagic Sea Breeze ink.  I chose a color scheme based around the flowered dp from DCWV's Garden Party Matstack. The pretty colors are so summery, I loved working with them.  Today was a beautiful sunny day with a soft cooling breeze here in Alaska, where I'm staying for a visit with my parents!
Whatever the weather where you are, I hope you're having a wonderful weekend,
Bridget

Baby Elephant

Good morning stampers. This is Cindy here with you today for some really cute inspiration using the Baby's Circus stamp set. I have adored this set since it first came out and was really happy to be able to ink it up. There's so many possibilities and variables that you can use the images for with this stamp set. I also found the perfect designer paper to go with it (Imaginisce Animal Crackers). There are so many patterns in this designer paper to highlight this stamp set and the Circus Fun stamp set too.

I definitely went out of my box while creating this card using such a bright color for my card base, but I think it turned out pretty cute and hope that you do too. Thank you so much for stopping by today to visit us and stop back daily as there's always a design team member showing you what they've made with Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. Take Time to Relax!

Hi Sweet 'n Sassy friends! It's my turn once again to post some inspiration for you!

I just had to share another sweet little digital Rhubarb - Don't you just love all the variations Korin has created for us? Here he is with a 'just plucked from the garden' sunflower - today I colored the flower like the daisies on the patterned paper behind him.

I used Copics to color Rhubarb. The sentiment is from the Ocean Paradise stamp set.

I hope you have sunshine and flowers in your world today - AND that you find some time to relax!!

hugs,
Julia Aston

Love is Like a Tree Side Step

The month of July is rolling right along, and it's time for another Tuesday project on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps blog.  It's Cathy again and I have been thoroughly enjoying my time as guest designer.  We've been having a heat wave here in Southeastern PA, so I want you to think cool thoughts and take a stroll with me through a delightful country garden, enclosed by a white picket fence.  We can stop beneath the shade of sweet, heart-laden trees and bushes along the way.  Let's invite that adorable new kid on the block, Rhubarb, to join us on our stroll.  I have a side step card for you today using the new "Love is Like a Tree" set and Rhubarb with Birdie Digi.

These side step cards are so much fun to make.  The directions for the base of the card can be found in the resources at Splitcoaststampers.  Once you have the base, enjoy decorating each panel or step with stamps, sentiments, or die cuts.  The tree in "Love is Like a Tree" fit perfectly on the side panel.  I stamped the image twice, cutting one with a scallop circle nestability which was then popped on top of the other image for some dimension.  The bushes on the back step were made with just the top of the tree image in the set.  Glossy Accents was added to the hearts on the tree and bushes.  The Rhubarb Digi was colored with Copic Markers, cut out, and attached to the middle step.  The white picket fence in the front was made with a picket fence die and nails (black pearls) were attached.  Each step was covered with grass which was hand made from green DP in my stash.  The sentiment from the "Timid Timothy" set was stamped, die cut, and attached to the fence with button twine.  That's all there is to it!  Thanks for visiting with us today!  Hope you enjoyed my project.  Check out the stamps and Digis at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store and try creating your own side step card.

Hugs,
Cathy

Wish List For Santa

Hi everyone!! I hope you had a great weekend and are looking forward to a blessed week. I am loving all of these cute Rhubarb Teddy Bears that Korin has created.  Today I came up with an idea to send those special wishes to Santa using Rhubarb's Candycane Digital Stamp
I started by making a Crisscross Card and used My Mind's Eye Wonderful Winter along with Bazzill cardstock.  For the insert I typed up the "Wish List" on my computer and cut it to fit.  This patterned paper was perfect to cut out the the trees and use them for a pull especially since I had three to send to Santa.  As the kids find things they want for Christmas we will add them to the list and be ready to go.  My kids were so excited when I showed them this and couldn't wait to get started... I just barely got the  pictures taken:)

Customer spotlight Sunday

Happy Sunday!! Today we are pleased to feature Grace in the spotlight.

Grace used the Flowers from Cocoa digi on her card. I love the vibrant colors she chose for her card and how the black matting pops the color as well.

Speaking of digis, remember that all of our digis are 20% off using the code SUMMERTIME until the 21st so you will want to hurry and take advantage of this offer before it ends. If you have not seen him yet, there is a new bear in town named Rhubarb and he is super cute.

Thank you for stopping by today, have a great day!

The Best is Yet to Be...

I made this card recently for a tip I shared over at the Sweet 'n Sassy Connection recently - to use the color black as an accent to add contrast.  It's one of my favorite ways to accent patterned paper!

Many people hesitate to use black if it isn't already in their patterned paper, but it really can provide an excellent "pop" on your card.  It's even better when you use it with lighter colors.  I've also had some people tell me that black card stock and black ribbon are either depressing, or only to be used when making something elegant. Not true!! They can be fun, too :)  I love this Autumn's Kite digi paired with the sentiment from the clear stamp set Love Sentiments.

You should head over to the thread to check out all the details, and play along with us!

Supplies:
Stamps: Autumns' Kite (digi), Love Sentiments (clear) (SNSS)
Card Stock: PTI Kraft, SU basic Black, GP White
Patterned Paper: Echo Park For the Record
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Coloring Medium: Copics
Accessories: black satin ribbon (Offray)
Tools: Spellbinders Nestabilities

Frame It Part 2

Happy Thursday and welcome to the Sweet 'n Sassy blog. This is Mary Marsh and today is my turn to cover the blog post.

Hope all of you are enjoying the lazy, hazy crazy days of summer. I sure am.

Last month when I posted to this blog I did a "frame it" card. See that post here.

I wanted to show you how you can take a sentiment and frame it with dies, patterned paper and ribbon to make a card.
I decided to continue with that theme this month. I like using dies and showing off the pattern in my paper. So often it gets covered up with lots of layers.

I used the scripture sentiment from the "joyful heart" set. This set was part of the July release.

Since this scripture reads of the joy in the Lord's presence, I wanted my card to reflect that. I used a bold & bright patterned paper from BoBunny. I added some ribbon, buttons and pearls to complete my card.

Well, that's it for me today. Until next time..........

Rhubarb the Teddy Bear

Good morning Sweet 'n Sassy friends! I'm excited to be posting here on the SNSS blog today!

Like a lot of you I love the new series of images that Korin has made...Rhubarb the Teddy Bear. While I know he doesn't really look like Pooh one of the first things that came to my mind when I saw Rhubarb was that he 'has a rumbly in his tumbly' so I had to build on that!

This card was SO easy to make! I just cut the bee hive and bees on my Cricut, colored Rhubarb and then put it all together! You can get more specifics on my blog if you'd like.

I know that Korin is releasing several new Rhubarbs this week so head on over to The Sweet 'n Sassy Connection to check them out!

I think that is it for me today. Make today a wonderful Wednesday!

Spotlight on Helping Hands

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  This is Cathy again with another project for you here on the Sweet 'n Sassy blog!  My project for today uses the newly released Sweet 'n Sassy Stamp set, "Helping Hands."  Korin has done it again...the sweet image in this set is perfect for coloring using your favorite medium and includes five wonderful sentiments.

Isn't this set just adorable!

I've been noticing so many beautiful cards lately with white embossing on colored card stock, so I decided to use this technique to make note cards with all the wonderful sentiments included in this set.  The image was  embossed with white detail embossing powder on four different colors of card stock, matching my Basic Grey DP.  The image was then stamped again on white card stock with Tuxedo Black ink.  The bird and the mouse in the image were punched out with various sizes of circle punches, colored with Copic Markers, mounted on coordinating pieces of card stock, and popped up on the white embossed image, spotlighting just the cute little helpers on each card. I then made a little card purse that holds all four cards along with matching envelopes.

The directions for this card purse can be found here on this thread at  Splitcoaststampers.  Jodi Collins has pictorial instructions and Beate has a wonderful video with step by step, easy to follow instructions.  All four cards in this set can be seen below.  Thanks for visiting with us today!  I hope you've been inspired by today's project.  Check out this stamp set and the new Rhubarb images at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  Until next Tuesday...
Hugs,
Cathy

Joyful Heart

Good morning Sweet 'n Sassy friends! I hope you had a fabulous weekend. Today I am sharing a card I made a couple of weeks ago using our new Joyful Heart set.

I have no idea if there is a brown and orange hummingbird, but in my imagination there is :).....plus it matches my papers ;). I grabbed these lovely papers by First Edition when I was at Joys of Life Scrapbooking recently. They are so pretty and I can't wait to make more cards with them :).

Thanks for visiting us today!! Have a blessed day!

Customer spotlight Sunday

Hi and thank you for checking in with us today! Today's customer in the spotlight is Lynette Neus.

Lynette used the Wildflowers stamp set for her lovely card today. I really like the CAS design as well as the colors in her card. Also, the flower soft she used in the centers of the flowers is the perfect accent.

Thank you Lynette for sharing your card with us today!

Wish You Were Here

Happy Saturday everyone! Are you excited for the weekend? I am...I'm having a friend over and our plan is to craft for the entire day!! WooHoo!! How about the beach? Anyone headed to the beach? I confess that even though we live only a few minutes away, we have yet to make it to the beach this year! So...for now I'll have to be content with collecting these beautiful sea shells from the Beauty by the Sea stamp set. :-)

One of my favorite things to do with this stamp set is to create my own custom background stamp. I do that by attaching a variety of stamps to a large acrylic block and voila, I have a shell background stamp! I used Broken China Distress Ink for the background color and then simply added an oval for my sentiment and my two Copic-colored shells, which are attached with foam tape.

This is one of my favorite Sweet 'n Sassy stamp sets...have you purchased one of the newest beach sets yet?? This weekend is the perfect time to shop!! :-)

Enjoy and have a fabulous weekend!

Lending a Helping Hand by Neva

Hi all.  I hope everyone is having a fabulous Summer.  This is such a fun seasons for our family.  We grill, swim, and just spend time together like this past Monday for the July 4th holiday.

I have a darling image to share with you today from an acrylic stamp set just released  called "HELPING HAND".  Haven't we all been in a situation where we needed an extra hand to help do something?  I know I have.  I used this same image for last Friday's challenge over at SplitCoastStampers to Celebrate July with any holiday for the month.  My choice was July 4th is also National Country Music Day, Who knew?  Since I love country music and this image how could I resist, anyway the song I chose to pair with this darling image was "The Chain of Love" by Clay Walker.  Now this song talks about when someone helps you out, pay it back by helping someone else out and don't break the chain.  How kewl is that and is that message not perfect for this image?   Can't you just see that little bird bringing that mouse a berry to eat after he get's that drop of water he needed?  I love it.

This is also for today's FREE 4 ALL CHALLENGE # 72 - The Good Old Summertime and today's QUEEN FOR THE DAY # 68 - Rox71. Yeah! Rox is truely an inspiration. I chose to CASE her SPRING DUCKIES changing the layout, colors and image but kept with the fun critters in unusual places.
OK onto this creation. I used white cardstock for my focal image panel and stamped the image in momento tuxedo black then colored with copics: B32, BG70 & 72, YG0000, 00,& 01, N1, 3, 5, & 7.  My dp is from DCWV - Cafe Mediterrian.  I added a drop of crystal effects on the drop of water and some stickles to the flower centers, leaves, and the birds feathers.  My focal panel is matted on taken with teal cs and the sentiment is stamped in taken with teal.
I hope you like what I have for you.  You can find this fabulous stamp set at SWEET N SASSY STAMPS Store.
Drop back in tomorrow for another fabulous project from one of our fantastic Design Team Members.

Beautiful Dots

Good morning. This is Cindy and I hope that you're all having a very blessed day so far. When I first saw Polka Dot Silhouettes, I immediately fell in love with this set. It's so versatile that you can use it for any occasion; not to mention it's as cute as can be! This set can be used for very elegant cards to very bright and fun cards, like my clean and simple card. It would also work great on scrapbook pages too. To keep it balanced, I used a sentiment from Birds & Roses stamped using white ink. To add a little more texture and dimension, I put everything up on foam dots and used textured white card stock.

I hope that you enjoy this very easy and fun to make clean and simple card. God bless you!

Favorite Friendship Flowers

Hello, it's Bridget here today to show you a card made with what has fast become one of my favorite sets at Sweet and Sassy Stamps called Your Friendship.  This set, designed by Korin, includes 4 images and 7 fabulous sentiments and it's so versatile - the flowers can be colored or paper pieced and used in single layers or layered up.  I used dp from My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose.  The card base is Stampin Up's Cherry Cobbler.  I curled the edges of the flowers up with the rounded handle of my piercing tool and distressed the edges with Ranger Distress Antique Linen.  The small scalloped edges are made with a Stampin Up punch.  The finishing touches are Stampin Up buttons and checked ribbon by The Ribbon Boutique.  The sentiments in this set are just perfect to let friends and loved ones know how much they're appreciated and how special they are.  I felt incredibly blessed as I made this card, knowing there are many people in my life I could send this one to!
Have a wonderful day, Bridget

Greetings from the Beach!

Hi!  It's Cathy, (AKA Cathymac on SCS), checking in from the beach at Ocean City, Maryland!  What a privilege it is to be the guest designer for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps during the month of July.  I met Korin back in January at a gathering of stampers from Southeast PA and fell in love with Sweet 'n Sassy's adorable images and wonderful sentiments, many of them scriptural.  The clear stamp sets contain so many sentiments, making them very versatile.  I will be sharing stamped projects with you each Tuesday during the month of July using two of the newly released stamp sets from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, "Love is Like a Tree" and "Helping Hand."

Love is Like a Tree

Before I get to my project today, I have a confession to make.  When I first became aware of digital stamps, I told myself that I would never be interested in using them.  Some how it seemed like cheating...you know...stamping without actually holding that stamp in your hands...without really inking up the rubber!  Well...never say never...I've had a change of heart.  I've found that there are many advantages to using digital stamps.  After stamping for many years, I have practically no more storage space left in my home...digital stamps are stored on your computer.  You can get a digital image almost instantaneously.  There are many adorable images out there...Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps has many of their images available as digi images.   AND they can be resized to fit your project, which brings me to my project for today.

When I saw this Melanie Mouse digi image at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, I knew she was a perfect match for the "Love is Like a Tree" set.  (See...I found a way to use my copics on this solid image stamp set!)   I made her small enough to fit in front of the tree and printed her on some white Couture Cardstock.  I then made a mask out of a sticky note, and stamped the tree behind her.  Clouds were sponged in the background using an old cloud template from Printworks.  I then stamped the hearts from the "Love is Like a Tree" set, which fit perfectly on the branches of the tree, and gave them a coat of Glossy Accents.  Melanie was then colored with Copic Markers.  The embroidery floss on the card was also colored with a Copic Marker.   The grass was sponged in with Peeled Paint Distress Ink, and the little heart-shaped flowers were drawn with a copic marker and a Sharpie Poster Paint marker.  It's hard to see in the photo, but small hearts were embossed on the black Bo Bunny DP with a Sizzix embossing folder.  The Faux brads were punched from Bo Bunny DP and coated with Glossy Accents.  Can't you just imagine  how the tree in this set could work in every season?  I hope you've enjoyed this project, and that it has inspired you to try to combine digital images with stamp sets that you have.  Thanks for checking in with us today...now back to the sun and the sand!  I'll be back next Tuesday with another project!

Hugs,
Cathymac

Making a Difference

Happy 4th of July!

My project today is a 4.25" square card that I made using two new Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps products just recently added to the online store for July's release:  Your Friendship stamp set and Echo Park's A Walk in the Park patterned paper. If you're interested in both of these products, I highly recommend for you to take a look at the Your Friendship July card kit that I designed using these products (along with some fun embellishments too!)

Since my card is a thank you card, I'd also like to invite you to check out this week's Just for Fun challenge on Sweet 'n Sassy Connection - that's this week's challenge!  We'd love to see you play along with us!

Have a blessed and safe holiday!
Jessica

Customer spotlight Sunday

Happy Sunday everyone! Today is a beautiful sunny day where I live and it just makes me long for the beach. I love being by the water! So, when I saw this super cute Cocoa beach card I knew that I wanted to feature it. Today we are featuring Rhonda Ziemer in the spotlight.

Rhonda used the Beach Bum Cocoa set from our June release for her card. This image is also available as a digi called Cocoa's Beach Ball. I love the bright fun papers from Echo Park's Summer Days collection that Rhonda used. I also think that the beach ball looks great paper pieced.

Thank you for stopping by today and for all our American friends, have a wonderful, safe 4th of July tomorrow!

Thanks A Dot!

Happy Saturday everyone!   And for those living in Canada -  Happy Canada Day yesterday.  Here in the US we're at the beginning of a wonderful long weekend to celebrate the 4th of July!   I'm off to a cookout early this afternoon and I'm looking forward to those hamburgers and hot dogs cooked on the grill!  Whoo hoo!!

Today I wanted to share a bright little card I made using the newly release set called Seeing Spots!  This sweet little set has dots with circles, butterflies, stars, stripes and flowers PLUS eight sentiments for all occasions that can be stamped right in the circles or separately.  And the cost of this versatile set won't break the bank either!

I used the spots and stripes circles on my scallop round card.  First I stamped the circles all on a white panel -  then I stamped 3 of them again on a scrap, punched them out and layered them over the panel with foam tape for a little dimension.  I added rhinestones for a little touch of sparkle and framed it in black and pink.

I used the Floral Doily Motif Shapeability to die cut the lacey framing and cut my card base with a Big Scallop Circle Nestability.

Well -  that's it from me today!  Hope you have some fun plans for your weekend and that the sun is shining for you!!

Hugs,
Julia
